It sounds like more work just to get to know characters that are already in the story. Isn't this delaying the resolution of the story? Doesn't this sidetrack you?

I felt like the book tied all of the ends together satisfactorily. I enjoyed this book as well as all of the previous ones. I confess, the first was mesmorizing and compelling which led to the rest. By the time I had read all 4 back-to-back, I was glad for the respite.

When I first read this, I thought how crazy! How can you keep up with so many books! But them I thought...I do that too! When I am reading what I call "teaching" books by Joyce Meyers, Charles Stanley, or Joel Osteen, I can read about 10 at a time. I'll just pick up one and read a chapter or two. Next time I'll browse my stack and pick up one and read from where I left off the last time. They are not like a novel where you need to keep up with the action. You can read and re-read these types of books and always get something out of them. I suppose your writing "teaching" books are the same.

I think everyone is interested in genetics to a certain degree. You have to find the balance between what would be interesting to the reader and what would be similar to a textbook explanation that would overload our knowledge and interest.

As much as I know I would like to read it - don't post part of your novel if you plan to publish. (A) Someone stealing it is not out of the realm of possibility and
(B) There are places that will not publish something that has been published before ANYWHERE - including blogs believe it or not.
